Smino’s ’24-8′ and ‘I Deserve’ Music Videos: Watch – VIBE.com

Smino released new song ’24-8′ as fans wait for his next album Love 4 Rental. Released with an accompanying music video shot and edited by The FIlm Lord, the song itself is produced by Phoelix. Its title and lyrics pay homage to Kobe Bryant, who wore the No. 24 and No. 8 jerseys during his NBA career.

“24/7 I get my dough, 24/8, ’bout feelin’ like Kobe,” he raps.

The “Netflix and Dusse” artist also penned an open letter to “SmiHive,” detailing his dedication to his creative and personal journey that begins with “Happy Belated 2 Kobe “Bean” Bryant.”

“I spent a lot of time becoming a better fren for myself. I spent a lot of time looking for the time I already had…I spent a lot of time trying to make this shit perfect only to realize that the only perfect things come from God and being myself is perfect bc I come from God Himself…” he wrote “I spent Alotta times wondering if I even gave a damn to drop Music bcuz in this world… it seems that talent is not appreciated as much as the “Challenge” or the moment..”

The handwritten note continues: “Preciate err body that has rocked me over the years…Thanks to the label change…these are real people in charge of the music now and I’m excited to show you how much I grew up… DROPTOBER we tear shit up. I love da SmiHive, y’all niggas keep me on my toe… hoes..”

Smino signed with Motown in partnership with his independent label and artist collective Zero Fatigue in November 2021. The next album Love 4 Rent should be its first full release under the new deal. At the time, the 30-year-old artist was releasing his first single with Motown, “I Deserve” with NOS.

“Smino is one of the most incredible artists in music. His boundless talent, creative vision, ambition, drive and authenticity have prepared him for this new chapter,” explained Motown CEO Ethiopia Habtemariam , in a press release.
