Coimbatore: A fan of actor and former late Chief Minister MG Ramachandran (MGR) has sent a bomb threat letter to the office of All India Radio Station in the city for not playing songs from movies MGR on the actor’s 105th birthday on January 17. radio station office filed a complaint with the Ramanathapuram police in this regard.
Police said Ramanathapuram radio station office received the letter (a postcard) on Wednesday stating that while he played songs from Rajinikanth movies for one hour on the birthday of the actor on December 12, he hadn’t even released a single song from the MGR films. on the occasion of his 105th birthday on January 17. The name of the sender of the card was RS Prabhakaran, from Coimbatore South. But there was no detailed address.
Questioning the bias, the sender asked what Rajinikanth did for Tamil Nadu and what MGR did not do for Tamil Nadu. “We strongly condemn this. From now on, the radio station must no longer broadcast the songs of any actor on the occasion of his birthday, otherwise a Molotov cocktail will be thrown at the station. If the station doesn’t take the matter seriously and plays actor songs to mark their birthdays, a petrol bomb will be the answer,” the letter read.
P Hareendran, an assistant engineer and security guard at the radio station office, filed a complaint with the Ramanathapuram police in this regard. Afterwards, two police officers were deployed to the radio station for protection. The police also issued a community service register to the complainant.
“We are trying to trace the identity of the sender of the letter,” a policeman said.
